Highlands Corporate Center

Challenge:       
An infill project in the city of Fairfield consisting of corporate office space, commercial space and offices of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. The parcel is located in a mountainous area with dramatic elevation changes, both within the parcel and along the boundaries. Issues that arose included access to adjacent city streets, stormwater quality, accessible ramp improvements and site grading to maintain appropriate slopes.

Solution:         
Laugenour and Meikle conducted an initial topographic survey of the site. Improvement plans were developed by coordinating with the developer and the City of Fairfield. The most common stormwater quality feature used was grassy swales located in the islands of the parking area.

Outcome:        
The office space and commercial project currently houses district offices for Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, a health care provider, a financial services provider and others.
